  • Dear Prospective Masters and PhD students,

    You are invited to apply one of the research topics advertised here by submitting your own research proposal to fit with the broad themes.

    1. Peat and organic soil behavior in the east coast region of Peninsular Malaysia
    2. Liquefaction potential of crushable granular soil in the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia
    3. Bioengineering and slope stabilization: Live poles in reinforcing shallow slopes
    4. Development of Energy Harvesting Shallow Foundation (EHSF) in the tropical region.

    Entry Requirement:
    1. Must possess undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering or Geoscience or Material Engineering fields.
    2. Must be able to speak and write fluently in English with minimum Band 4 in MUET or 5 in IELTS.
    3. Must be able to work independently and self-funded for at least 3 years on fulltime basis. Postgraduate scholarships or assistantships are available to eligible candidates but not guaranteed upon acceptance of offer into the postgraduate program.

Dean's Welcome Note

On behalf of the faculty and administrative as well as technical staff, I welcome you to the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Earth Resources at Universiti Malaysia PAHANG (UMP)'s website. We have come a long way since our formation in 2002 and is now positioned to become a leading provider of civil engineering programs and a producer of relevant research outputs.

We strive to ensure the best possible education instill for individuals in becoming future professional engineers. To date, our Graduate Employability pointer has breached the 90% mark for each cohort . Besides the current crop of established undergraduate programs and research-based postgraduate programs, the faculty is working towards offering new Masters degrees and other postgraduate courses.

Our lecture rooms are designed conducively with great environment to bring out the best in our students. We also have laboratories that cater to the different fields in civil engineering, and which are equipped with all the basic tests necessary to cover the syllabus in our undergraduate programs. In addition to that, our laboratories are also home to various  advanced equipment and apparatus that support research at the postgraduate and post-doctoral level.

Besides their academic studies, students at our faculty are also encouraged to get involved with other aspects of a vibrant university life such as in sports, professional bodies like the IEM student chapter and cultural societies such as the Mahasiswa Anak Sabah Sarawak and Mandarin Language Society, to name a few. The faculty also has its very own students’ club named CIVER UMP which organizes various activities and talks related to civil engineering every year.
