Admission Requirements


   Requirements for Postgraduate Programmes:

  • Doctoral Programme
    • A Master Degree in the relevant studies from the University or Institute recognized by the University Senate OR an equivalent professional qualification in a related field recognized by the Senate.
  • Master Programme
    • A Bachelor degree with honours (minimum 2.75/4.00)* in the relevant area from recognized universities or equivalent professional qualifications that are recognized by the University Senate.
  • English Language Requirements
    • Candidates should have a good command of English equivalent to IELTS (Academic) Band 6.0, TOEFL* paper based 550 points (for international students only) and MUET Band 4 (for local students only).

      *TOEFL ITP is not acceptable by admission

    • Candidates who have obtained a lower result or have not taken the TOEFL/ IELTS are required to sit for the Preparatory Intensive English (PIE) programme and obtain Band 6.0 in the UMP English Profeciency Test (UMP-EPT) before registration.

PO 3 : Ability to identify and conduct original research and assemble a creative new body of work in the fields spanned by Civil Engineering with minimum supervision.
PO 4: Ability to communicate and work effectively with peers and stakeholders indicating leadership qualities.
PO 5: Ability to think critically, creatively and to address technical problems in the fields spanned by Civil Engineering.
PO 6: Educated in ethical and responsible conduct in research and professional activities.
PO 7:Manage information to develop lifelong learning in the field of Civil Engineering
PEO 1: Provision of knowledge creation, research skills and competency based on solid process and findings.
PEO2:  Enhancement of generic skills such as attitudes, ethics, sense of professionalism and leadership skills for societal advancement within the framework of the national vision
PEO3: Utilisation of the analytical and problem solving skills to evaluate and make decisions critically and creatively based on research evidence and experience
PEO4: Further development of the quest for knowledge and lifelong learning skills that are essential for continuous upgrading of knowledge and skills that parallel the rapid advancement in global knowledge
